Analysis....The Actual Story Behind Trump's War Against Harvard--

Introduction-- We Are What We Do, Not What We Say We Are.

First things first. I am Jewish, (though not observant or especially religious) and I'm proud of my Jewish heritage and ancestors, who fled from persecution in Russia and emigrated to America to build a better life for themselves and their families. I am even proud of my grandfather who was a top Bookie in the employ of Philadephia's mafia kingpin Angelo Bruno. (Who you saw depicted by Harvey Keitel in the Scorcese-DeNiro film about presumed Hoffa Teamster hitman Frank Sheeran, titled "The Irishman." Despite his anti-semitism Bruno rewarded loyalty, so he paid for my parents wedding reception and a down-payment on their house. Sixty years later my mother Bernice had an assisted living home romance with Sheeran himself, who my wife and I talked with extensively about Teamster politics and Hoffa without yet knowing his full background. Every time I visited my grandparents in their dilapidated South Philly row home, my "Pop-Pop" would give me a five-dollar bill (which he couldn't afford) and point to the picture of Abraham Lincoln and say "this was a great man, he freed the slaves." Except he didn't use the word slaves, because you all know how our language has evolved since then.

My father's side of the family were tailors, garment workers, Doctors and business people. To my knowledge, none of them ever knocked anyone off, except for my dad who did happen to help kill some Nazis during his year long visit to Europe in the 40's.

I was Bar Mitzvah'd, got married to an extraordinary Jewish woman in a Jewish ceremony, my wife Martha of 40 years. (Whose parents founded the very first English language speaking Synagogue in all of Latin America) I make Potato Latkes and Schmaltz from scratch, will never divulge my Bubbeh's recipe for Kuegel, and I know how to denounce people in Yiddish. And not least, my wife and I as a team have waged a decades long political battle against fascism and in defense of human rights which is unusual in many respects, a topic for another day.

I am not however proud of many of my fellow Jews or the current government of Israel, who have become so bound by rage, ignorance, prejudice, and the desire for bloody revenge against the Islamic world that they would sell their souls in a Faustian pact with the malignant narcissist Donald Trump, just to satisfy their bloodlust. Those tragic right-wing ultra-religious schmucks are a blot on nearly six millenia of Jewish survival, and are currently as serious a threat to Israel's existence as are their Arab neighbors. I am truly saddened by and ashamed of them, and I refuse to not say so publicly.

Therefore anyone who pops up in my comments to accuse me of being an anti-semitic Jew, I will tell them in a strident tone, "geh kluppen kopf en wand." You all can look that up on Google and learn a few Yiddish expressions for yourselves while you are at it. .

Part 1-- Anti-Semitism Is Not Just A "Sickness," It Is One Form Of Politically Weaponized Hatred

I'm not here to provide memes, sound bites, or talking points. Go somewhere else for that, because we here are serious about stopping facism. That said, we will start with this.

The below illustration is an infamous anti-semitic propaganda cartoon drawn by Nazi artist Philipp Rupprecht, widely disseminated in Germany in order to fuel hatred and violence against Jews.

The German translated to English reads:

Jews were characterized by the Nazis as predatory rapists and pedophiles, satanic and grotesque in their appearance, who were threatening Germany's beautiful, virtuous, and innocent Aryan children. This was a continuation of the ten centuries old "Blood Libel" spread by the Christian churches which claimed that the "Christ-killing Jews" survived centuries of plagues and hardship by kidnapping Christian babies, killing them and drinking their blood.

This Blood Libel campaign was brought back to life in the US in recent years by the Neo-Nazi terrorist cult of "QAnon," with their completely fake "Save The Children" campaign.

The terms "Democratic liberal/socialist pedophiles" were the dogwhistle code for those Jews who they claimed led the child murder and trafficking conspiracy, which supposedly Trump, the great hero-crusader, was going to root out and destroy. Trump has endorsed QAnon as a group of people "who love their country and like me a lot." And of course Michael Flynn, Trump's former chief of staff Mark Meadows, and many other close MAGA allies like MTG and Bannon are QAnon members or adjacents.

The purpose behind the original Nazi propaganda campaign of cultural annihilation was obviously to create the basis for demonizing the Jews so that they could more easily be physically annihilated. The intention behind it was not, as one might think, to incite the average German citizen to go out and beat or shoot Jews or set fire to their businesses, though that did happen. The Nazi Stormtroopers (SA) were given that assignment, and after they were disbanded by Hitler it was handed over exclusively to the SS in conjunction with other police agencies and local governments, and later during the war the Wehrmacht.

In its initial phases the purpose of the anti-semitic campaign was twofold. One was to justify the dismantling of German law and the justice system of the Weimar Republic in order to arrest, detain, enslave, forcibly deport, and murder them without what we would call today "due process.” Government agencies were charged with the mission of making Europe "Jew free" under Hitler's express orders and later under the Nuremberg Laws, therefore they were told to override any previous traditions, precedents or Constitutional protections to facilitate the destruction.

Second was to create enough of a fear factor in the general population such that anyone, including non-Jews who opposed the Nazi's policies in any aspect of government, be it social, cultural, religious, economic, political, and family life, would remain silent, pretend it was not happening, or capitulate, thus becoming an informer or collaborator of the one party state.

The Nazi's imposition of a police state dictatorship, the regimentation of the German economy and society, and the success of their nazification program in all areas called "Gleichschaltung," was dependent upon the strategic use of fear and violence to crush or neutralize their opposition. It should be remembered that the Nazi Party never received more than 37% of a popular vote in any free election, therefore the Germans as a majority initially didn't want him or his Nazis. Hitler was <appointed> Chancellor, never voted in with a free or fair election..

The message of Nazi propaganda was that anyone who defied "The Führer" would meet the same fate as the Jews, socialists and others whom they saw being persecuted, taken away, enslaved or murdered. Hitler, like Trump today, demanded that every member of the military and civil service take a loyalty oath, and the refusal to swear by it meant blacklisting, imprisonment or death. Schoolchildren were given a "Hitler Prayer" to recite at the beginning of each school day. Children were taught to inform on their teachers, classmates and family members if they diverged from the Nazi party line. This should remind folks of what groups like the cristo-fascist "Moms For Liberty" are doing today to destroy curricula and ban books. This is how most of the resistance in Germany was eventually broken.

Not surprisingly, Trump's opening phase of purging the government is also based on agreement to take a loyalty oath in the form of new hires being compelled to express unwavering support for the 2020 election denial conspiracy theory, and in defense of the January 6th insurrection. Now Cabinet members are wearing a Trump image lapel pin instead of a US flag to demonstrate their fealty and obedience. One couldn't be faulted for hoping they accidentally pierce their Aortas with them when putting them on.

The campaign to demonize immigrants by Donald Trump, Stephen Miller, and the propaganda arms of their MAGAsphere media, especially Hispanics both legal and illegal, Muslims, POCs, and gender minorities, is exactly the same as what Hitler deployed against European Jewry. History tells us that soon after the demonization phase comes arrest, jail, enslavement, torture, and death. There is however one important difference between then and now. This time Jews are not the targeted group, with the exception of those who oppose him such as Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, and Chuck Schumer in his better days, all of whom Trump denounces as a disgrace to Judaism. .

In fact, in a macabre and diabolical twist, Donald Trump, the man who told his Chief Of Staff John Kelly that "Hitler did some good things," who used to have a collection of Hitler's speeches on his night table for bedtime reading according to his first wife Ivana, who hires, nominates, and has lunch with actual real-life Nazis and anti-semites at his "Eagle's Nest" in Mar-a-Lago, is launching a campaign against anti-semitism.

One could say in response to this, "what a sick joke." But it is no joke at all.

Trump yesterday indicated that he wants the IRS to revoke the tax-exempt status of Harvard University, because they refused to capitulate as did Columbia University to the administration's war against free speech and higher education, demanding they purge the supposed "anti-semites" who opposed the Netanyahu right-wing coalition's conduct of the war in Gaza. This would cripple Harvard's ability to self-fund through alumni endowments, charitable grants or other tax-deductible donations..

This blatant abuse of power is in service of his and Stephen Miller's long term goal of expelling Muslim immigrants, foreign students, AND citizens, for no other reason than their shared deep personal commitment to race hatred, religious bigotry and revenge.

We are being told that this is Trump's strategy for destroying free speech, ending academic freedom, and is a threat to shut down any institution which does not fall in line with his demand to extirpate what he calls "woke" curricula. These things are all true, but, we raise the additional question, "is that all there is to this," even though it is indeed quite a lot?

What Trump and his appointed lackeys at IRS are attempting with Harvard is like everything else they do. It is a precedent setting legal atrocity intended to override the US Constitution, and to weaponize the agencies of our government to carry out his personal retribution against any and all enemies.

Mainstream media, playing the usual populist-style mind-games for which they are infamous, has tried to claim that Trump's personal shtick with Harvard is due to his hatred of a specific group of billionaires that graduated from there who oppose him on various issues, though their opposition has been at best moderate. They are billionaires after all. Well, this line is typical MSM garbage and misinformation, a continuation of their "both-sidesist" policy of groveling at his feet in order to avoid direct confrontation on any matter of real substance which might put them on his bad side. Which, as a matter of historical fact, is exactly how Hitler broke the free and independent press in Germany.

There is one overarching reason for it, which has been his object of obsessive race-hated for more than a decade and a half. His name is Barack Obama, Harvard Law graduate and former editor of their Law Review.

Generally speaking Americans are well aware of the deep seated hatred Trump has for President Obama going back to his old racist "birther" conspiracy operations ten years ago which he used to launch his political career. But most folks underestimate the degree to which much of Trump's motivation is driven by his desire to outdo and undo every action taken by Obama's administration during its two terms. The Affordable Care Act, the Iran nuclear deal, the committment to DEI policies in government and expansion of the social safety net, the Obama sanctions against Russia and his expansion of NATO after Putin's annexation in Crimea, the successful operation to find, capture and kill Bin Laden, his winning of a Nobel Peace Prize, and many other areas not mentioned, were the virtual raison d'etre for Trump's candidacies to begin with. That and to continue his family's grifting pattern in business.

He was determined to outdo, and/or undo all of it. This, just in case we haven't figured it out yet, is the way this pathetic egomaniac thinks. Also not irrelevant is that Trump is compelled by kompromat to honor his end of several bargains made with Putin in order to get his Moscow Trump Tower and Hotel.

In fact, the extraordinary vindictive campaign by Trump over years to destroy Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden is largely because he sees them as Obama's accessories, in addition to them having been his greatest political rivals. Step by step, you can make a list of everything Trump has done as President going back to 2017 and see that it has been the mirror opposite of the policies of Obama's presidency. This is why he wants to destroy Harvard, because he blames them for launching Obama's career, not because he is seriously fighting against the tolerance of anti-semitism on their campus. Anyone who can't see this must not want to see it, or have spent the last ten years vacationing on Pluto.

In his current devolving cognitive state, Trump's personal grudges have superceded his policy commitments as his motivation. Musk, Vance, and Stephen Miller are obsessed with implementing "Project 2025." Trump on the other hand couldn't give a rat's ass about government or domestic policy. He wants his enemies dead, to make lots of money, to help his friends steal money without government interference, and to divide up the world into mafia-like territories with his friend and mentor Vladimir Putin. At the heart of all of it is his racism and greed, as reflected in his hatred for President Obama.

Once we have adequately grasped this reality, we will be better equipped to fight him, because we can know what he will do before he does it. .

Every day, and in every way, what Trump and Miller do is to push the envelope in an escalating campaign of political, cultural, and physical violence against their enemies, not just for vengeance' sake, but to reward their billionaire patrons. The US Constitution is to them a nuisance obstacle to be removed through the expansion of his power to issue illegal executive orders. Just like Hitler after the Reichstag Fire.

In this author's view, anyone who thinks this Harvard gambit is only all about Israel, or banning free speech in opposition to the Gaza war, or for that matter fighting anti-semitism, is being manipulated, duped, and played like a fiddle. That is especially true of a significant number of my fellow American Jewish citizens, some of whom have incredibly both funded and voted three times for this racist treasonous madman and lowlife grifter. How did they decide upon him, you ask? Well, it's based upon another one of the biggest of all "Big Lies"... ie; that "Trump will be good for the Jews and Israel," therefore it is ok to just ignore everything else.

At best this is the narrowest form of myopia and parochialism. At worst, this is a brutal form of ignorant tribalism and hatred directed against a world which they choose to believe desires to wipe them out. The Holocaust and anti-semitism are for them a banner which they can run up the flagpole when convenient, and serves as a "fig leaf" behind which they hide their own fascist agenda and desire for a bloody retribution against those who they see as a threat. Which for Jewish Trump supporters includes all non-Jews and liberal Jews. (Except of course for the Christian fundamentalists who fund and support the Israeli religious far-right) Therefore anything done in the name of "survival" is justified, including mass murder of defenseless civilians, which is the policy of the corrupt war criminal and his cabinet currently holding office in Tel Aviv.

So, please tell me again why installing a hard core anti-semitic fascist in the White House is good for Jews, Israel, or anyone. Anyone who flunks this test is proving themselves to have some fascist proclivities of their own, which is why they defend Bibi Netanyahu's ethnic cleansing program in Gaza.

And just to make it personal, the reality is that my having written this and everything else on Facebook and Substack, if I were try to enter the US with my current phone and social media history, I would likely be detained, deported back to Mexico, or someplace worse, because I've committed a hate crime against Jews. My being Jewish would count for nothing. It all means that I'm an exile now, no longer just an expat.

This inability to discern reality from lies and deception is how we wind up with fascists such as Netanyahu and Stephen Miller gaining such power in the world. They hide behind their nominal jewishness to defend their murderous conduct in what amounts to a sick masquerade. They are as far removed from Judaism as any two people on Earth could possibly be.

Trump is indeed a vile racist and anti-semite himself, having been raised that way by his Ku Klux Klan supporting father Fred Trump. Stephen Miller is a decades long indoctrinated fascist of the "Stockholm Syndrome" variety, as he is a friend and ally of some of the 21st Century's most dangerous fascist demagogues like his mentor in Muslim hate and racism David Horowitz, the disgraced whackjob former GOP Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann, and actual Nazis such as his Duke University debate team partner Richard Spencer. Spencer was the Nazi who organized the Charlottesville "Unite The Right" rally of 2017, which chanted "Jews will not replace us." Oh, you didn't know that Miller fundraised on campus to support Spencer's public forums? Well, just consider this more proof, as if we needed any, that Miller is a Jewish Nazi.

Yes, Miller is a very strange case. He identifies as Jewish, yet employs the propaganda methods of his "doppegänger" Josef Goebbels, Nazi Minister Of Propaganda, in demonizing Hispanics, Muslims, and LGBTQ persons.

He claims to be a defender of Israel, but has masterminded a plan for mass deportations of foreigners which was adjudicated as a Nazi crime against humanity by the Nuremberg Trials 70-some years ago, which to this day is still codified as such by international law. He claims to be motivated by a commitment to protecting Americans from criminals, rapists, murderers and terrorists, yet he has been a leader of efforts to both vindicate and free all 1500+ members of Trump's terrorist mob which stood convicted for their violent attack on the US Capitol on January 6th. He claims membership in a party which is supposedly "pro-life," yet he treats human beings like caged animals and has pushed for strafing columns of unarmed migrants with US military helicopter gunships from the air. He is a White Nationalist, the 100% opposite of a Jew

These are all obvious points to make in highlighting Miller's and Trump's lifetimes of lies, hypocrisy, criminal conspiracies and outright hatred against the very principles underlying the US Constitution, as well as our laws, norms, and traditions. But there is more to this which needs to be explored to make sense out of it. If we are going to remove these people from power and in the future inoculate our citizens against their despicable world outlook, we are obligated to ask the question, "how have we been manipulated into allowing things to go so far, so fast?" Which in turn changes the discussion from what makes people like Stephen Miller tick, to how so many of us are still being influenced by propaganda without even realizing it.
